Superior filtration from the inside out.
The Pro Series filter features an integral top diffuser that evenly distributes unfiltered water over the sand media bed in a cascading, umbrella-like pattern. This allows the greatest filtration possible from every square inch of sand. Then the self-cleaning underdrain assembly, with its 360° slotted laterals, provides a fast, balanced flow of clear water back to the pool while allowing for more thorough backwashing. Best of all, the Pro's full-flow technology reduces your energy costs because the filter operates for shorter periods.

Seven-position valve puts you in control.
The patented, multiport control valve developed by Hayward was designed with seven pool filter positions. An easy-to-use lever-action handle lets you quickly dial any function.

Long-lasting convenience.
You can easily access the Pro Series filter assembly for simple servicing via the unique folding ball joint in the laterals. A corrosion-proof housing protects the filter from severe weather for years to come.

Sand Filter Cutaway

There are three popular methods of filtration – Sand, Cartridge, and Diatomaceous Earth (D.E).

Sand
In this method, impurities are extracted from the water utilizing sand to collect and attract the debris. Sand filters must be backwashed (running it in reverse) to unload the water waste. This is a manual process that must be performed every few weeks. Learn more.

Cartridge
Cartridge filters have a greater surface area than sand allowing for smaller particles of debris to be trapped and filtered. Cartridge filters are designed to run at lower pressure than sand which puts less backpressure on the pump, providing more flow and turnover. Correctly sized cartridge filters should be cleaned once or twice a season by simply hosing them off. Learn more.

DE
Diatomaceous earth is mined and is the fossilized exoskeletons of tiny diatoms. This method of filtration is the most effective by trapping debris as small as 2 - 5 microns. Once the pressure rises, the filter is backwashed just like a sand filter and then "recharged" with more DE powder. Learn more.
